Police confiscated the garden one plant at a time. Locked down activists encouraged officers to adopt the plants, pointing out specific seedlings and their decorative and practical uses to the police.
Police issued several warnings, during which time "mists" who planned to avoid arrest drifted back to the sidewalks.
"Faeries" and "rocks" remaining in the garden lockdown circle laid down in the street to slow down arrests and to impede the removal of the garden.
"Faeries," with their hands free, provided water to the locked down "rocks" as the arrests began.
Protesters not yet arrested struck up a song.
The two dozen arrestees were taken to the "Hall of Justice" (sic) and held for the rest of the day. Most were released around dinnertime pending arraignment, but several people were held on more serious charges of obstructing arrest for blockading a bus. National Lawyers Guild provided legal support. Charges were eventually dropped to infractions (traffic tickets) or dismissed.
